 Welcome to Villa Gialla


Well naming the house wasn't difficult, it had to be the yellow villa. We don't know that much about the history of our house but we know the oldest parts of the house are from the 18th century. The house is just below the church and the castle. Maybe it has served as a rectory, or simply just a house belonging to the castle and it's staff. We bought the house from an elderly couple, Mr Bracco and his lovely wife Kathy. Mr Bracco is an artist at his spare time and the couple left some art as well as lots of nice furniture. A good thing was that we seem to have very similar taste as the Bracco couple and most of the furniture stays in the house.


One special little detail in the house made us very excited and was probably one of the reasons we actually bought the house. The beautiful ceilings in four of the rooms.

 Vad händer en vanlig dag i Calosso... Jag kommer plocka bort en del av det som vi pysslar med här då vi måste ta hand om huset och annat praktiskt men för våra besökare är nedan en rätt ok beskrivning av hur en dag kan vara. Vakna av kyrkklockans klingande Kopp kaffe Gå till GES Bar vid torget för att köpa bullar. Har öppet i princip alla dagar utom Tisdagar . De tar kort men då de flesta kör kontant så tar det alltid en massa tid att betala med kort. Men, där finns en bankomat på torget! På Lördagar och Onsdagar (tror jag) så finns grönskanståndet på torget. Passa på att köpa lite sallad, jordgubbar eller välj från någon av de olika sorters tomater hon har...  Hon har även lite udda grejer som denna rödbeta som ser rutten ut men är inlagd på något vis.... men är söt och god. Finns även som lök men den har jag inte provat ännu.  h Ät frukost.... Skall man göra en utflykt till någon marknad så är det bästa att göra det tidigt!! För de stänger efter 12-13! Vin i vår Calosso Crotin varav en del vi tagit med hem till vinkällaren i Sverige

En bra intro är att läsa denna utmärkta artikel om viner i runt Calosso, Crotins, Rapule, slottet, och den vackra kyrkan.  Den är på Italienska men google translate översätter  bra till engelska! Den tredje helgen i oktober, efter skördens strapatser och dagarna börjar bli härligt svala samt man måste göra plats i vintankar och lager för årets skörd så kommer den vanligen så lugna byn till liv med tusentals besökare till   Fiera del Rapulé  en fantastisk mat och vinresa där alla typiska rätter från det lokala köket tillsammans med det utmärkta DOC- och DO2CG-vin från de flesta odlare runt byn. Hela byn blir en enda stor fest med musik, dans, vin och mat i tre dagar.  Här kommer jag lista de viner vi har i större mängd, jag inkluderar både vår Crotin i Calosso och de i Sverige. Lita inte på att den är helt uppdaterad men jag gör så gott jag orkar. Värt att notera är att jag undviker vin som "svavlats".... mao, lagringen innebär större risk att de blir dåliga...

The interior part 2

 Seriously, did you say 15 rooms? Our beautiful house is large indeed, around 400 sqm, however the way you calculate number of rooms in Italy is truly imaginative. In Sweden, we tend to express the number of rooms as simply "4 rooms and kitchen," not taking into account bathrooms and hallways, which may seem a bit different from the Italian perspective. Over there, they count everything, generously including every nook and cranny, resulting in an impressive-sounding 15 rooms! Break that down we have 6 bedrooms, 1 kitchen, 2 living rooms, 1 library, 1 furniture hallways, 3 bathrooms and 1 toilet. The house can accommodate 12 people but with one bed sofa in the upper living room we can stretch that to 13.
